Project Name:  State Correctional Institution-Laurel Highlands

Location: Somerset PA

Problem/Outcome:

Prison needed to upgrade the capacity of WWTP facility due to installation of new landfill gas system.  Mostoller Landfill, owned by Interstate Waste Services disposed of their Leachate to the prison in exchange for their landfill gas to be used in generators to supply power and process systems to the prison facility. Prison also needed to upgrade their existing onsite tanks and capacity to handle the additional flow from landfill. Existing Concrete tanks and apparatuses were degraded and needed repaired or replaced.

New 1.5MGD SBR system was installed on Prison Facility, existing system was repaired, upgraded existing concrete tanks and installed poured in place concrete reactor system.

Description of Work:

10 acre site for facility was used.

Equipment utilized on project, Excavators, Dozers, Track Loaders, Cranes, Man lifts, Concrete Forms, Concrete Pump Trucks, Off Road Dump Trucks, HDPE Welding Equipment and various Forms of Pipe Welding Processes.

Task Completed:

Complete Excavation of site for a total of 6 cast in place concrete tanks, sizes were normally 55’x55’x28’tall with Galvanized Walkways w/Handrails. Complete installation of all electrical pumps, components and process control equipment. Complete installation of all underground Pipes, Site Drains and other ancillary pipe required for the completion of the SBR System interconnecting to the existing WWTP. Removal of Top 2ft of Existing Concrete in Ground Tanks and replaced with New Poured in Place Concrete. All QC Format and Security Clearances were completed as Requested by Customer.

Plant is Currently Running to Designed Capacity.  SCILH
